A few James/Lily stories to share

Although I have a fic journal, I have not yet posted these stories there. I post all my work at Mugglenet Fanfiction, and have started posting at fanfiction.net under the same penname now as well.

Over the summer I wrote a story in which James proposes to Lily:

Title: The Poppy Field - LINK!
Author: Gmariam
Summary: On the last day of his last year, a young man looks to his future in a poppy field by the lake…
Rated: 3rd-5th Years
Warnings: None
Chapters: 1 Completed: Yes
Word count: 1568

Then this fall I sort of continued the ideas in that story, as well as a story I had written several years ago (Another Chance), and wrote a multi-chaptered story in which James and Lily are (GASP!) not together. It was inspired by a beautiful piece of fanart at Deviantart. I'm rather proud of this one:

Title: Honestly - LINK!
Author: Gmariam
Summary: Seven months after leaving Hogwarts, James Potter is fighting for the Order of the Phoenix. When Lily Evans joins the resistance, his life is turned upside down. He'd proposed, after all, and she had said no. How could they work together now, after so much history together? Or could they find another chance amidst the war?
Rated: 3rd-5th Years
Warnings: Sexual Situations, Substance Abuse, Violence
Chapters: 9 Completed: Yes
Word count: 38840

Reviews are love. I hope you enjoy! I may share a few other stories later...

Ok, so I want everyone's take on this. I've been reading some of the stories, and doing some research on the characters on my own, and I got to thinking this morning about Snape's character and his motivations behind his actions. Obviously, a lot of his motivations stem from his love for Lily, his need for acceptance and a place to belong.

But what I'm curious is in all the time he was working toward becoming a Death Eater and working along side Voldemort....did he ever believe the propaganda? Was he truly a purist, or did he just join because of his interest in the Dark Arts and need to belong somewhere?

HI! I'm rather new to this fandom. Actually, I'm not particularly active in fandom at all, at least not lately. I got into some Queer as Folk fandom a few years back out of sheer frustration at the lack of conclusion at the end of the series. I got really into the writings of some very talented authors, and even wrote a little of my own. I got married in 2010 and lost track of LJ and the communities I was part of. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Recently, however, I came across some really beautiful art from a rather talented artist on pinterest (of all things) depicting Lily and James in school. I began to browse thru her work, and after a few hours, I was in love. Her art held stories all their own. I began to see if she actually had written stories, but it doesn't appear so. That is what brought me here. LJ has a wonderful expanse of fanfiction communities, and this one caught my attention.

SO, to sum up, I was wondering if anyone could get me started, so to speak? It's been so long since I've written fanfiction! I am a writer in my own right, working on my own personal pieces off and on, but fanfiction is a whole different ballgame. You're taking someone else's work, and trying to live up to the spirit of what they struck out to create. It's been some years since I've read the Harry Potter books, so I'm a little vague on some of the details of the former generation. Would love feedback!

FIC: Multi-Chapter In Progress

Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: M for later chapters
Pairing: James/Lily, Sirius/Remus, Severus/Lily, Peter/OC
Warning(s): Slash; Slight adult themes in later chapters
Summary: Under a ceiling enchanted to look like the night sky, one wayward son, a dreamer, a tightrope walker, a beast in a bird cage, one half of a whole and the heir to an estate come together. Perceptions are challenged & flaws accepted. Spirits run high & hope falls low. Secrets are exposed & hearts broken but not everyone changes for the better. How many survive the 1970's?
Notes: Full multi-chapter Marauders story beginning with separate prologues for each in the hope of giving insight in to why the characters fit so well together as a unit.
PLEASE REVIEW. Some feedback/constructive criticism would give me some much needed confidence in my writing/life...
Disclaimer: I do not, nor will I ever (despite daydreams of that nature), own The Marauders or any other Harry Potter character. They were created by a goddess named J.K. Rowling. Any characters you do not recognize from the books are original creations.

The Classics

I'm bored (I'm procrastintating) and I don't have any inspiration for fics that I know where I want them to go, but just don't know the journey, same old, same old, so I'm here asking for one thing.

The best Lily/James fanfiction. The classics. The ones that if I haven't read them, I'm not a true L/J fan. The ones that everyone knows about it. The hidden gems. Things that should be published as original novels. The ones that can't because they are so in character, that even with name changes, you would know the characters for who they were.

I only ask one thing.

FF.net only recs. I want to be able to read, review, favorite, and alert on my account and I want to be able to do that on an account I have and I don't want to open a new account.

Looking for...

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for James/Lily fics which are relatively canon, where James' parent(s) die? I really enjoyed "Summer Magic" and "The Reality of Card Games" and I'm looking for more fics where James deals with that issue.

Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks :)

Affliction | A Harry Potter Fanfiction | Chapter Five

Title: Affliction
Author: tonksandremus
Pairings: James/Lily
Setting: Pre-Hogwards, Marauders Era
Rating: A very mild T
Summary: She started to turn away from him, loosening her grip on his hand as she went. Instead of obliging, James tightened his own grip. They're coming of age and nothing feels safe or secure anymore.

But he also doesn't miss the look of discomfort that sits on her face, and he also knows that its because she doesn't want this. He's getting too attached and he's letting his feelings resurface and get in the way of something that was not meant to be meaningful."
